Don’t Stop Me Now

“I have fun with my clothes onstage; it’s not a concert you’re seeing, it’s a fashion show.”

For my first Moda Muse inspiration, I decided to have a little fun with my clothes, like Freddie Mercury did on stage. His 1985 Live Aid look is iconic, in that he wore simple, classic, white attire. He then accentuated it with a studded leather armband. It’s like he knew not to overdo the clean look, but wanted to add an element of edge with the armband. His bombastic performance would do the rest of the work.

Once I saw Bohemian Rhapsody, I started thinking about how easy and fun this would be to recreate. Today, I strutted around town feeling like the Queen front man in my own version of his Live Aid ensemble. I already had the white tank dress and tennis shoes. Then I used a studded leather choker that happened to fit on my arm to finish off the look. I think I paid $6.99 for the choker at an accessory shop in the mall.

The Mercury look is great for all types of occasions or any old day. I ran some errands, had a lunch date, and worked a little in this number. I’d love to wear this to a party or event too. I’m thinking Austin Pride, perhaps! What other iconic Mercury outfits could I recreate?
