Stellar Collisions

“Such a classic girl, gives her man great ideas. Hears you tell your friends, ‘Hey man, listen to my great idea!'”

Classic Girl, written and performed by Jane’s Addiction
Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction) and his creative partner, Casey Niccoli

Every artist takes inspiration from those around them. Although they may work alone, the artist is continuously collaborating with the world they live in, their surroundings and day to day observations. At times a stellar collision of combined creative forces occurs and it is truly a beautiful sight to behold. Today I’m celebrating those that work well together and taking a bit of inspiration from my favorite creative duos in rock and roll.

Pictured above is my all time favorite creative team, the heart and soul of Jane’s Addiction, Perry Farrell and Casey Niccoli. The band’s powerful sound just felt right with Casey’s black magic imagery and visual influence.

So in no particular order here are 12 more of my favorite stellar collisions in rock and roll history and a bonus #13… scroll to see! 🤩🤩

#1 Martin Rev and Alan Vega of the synth punk duo, Suicide
#2 1960s and 1970s vocal duo, Sonny and Cher
#3 Big Boi and Andre 3000 of the rap duo, Outkast
#4 Liv Tyler and Alicia Silverstone, video vixen duo
#5 Robin Guthrie and Elizabeth Fraser of the dream pop band, Cocteau Twins
#6 Debbie Harry and Chris Stein, punk power couple of the band Blondie
#7 David Bowie and Iggy Pop, artist and producer collaborative duo
#8 Bey and Jay, hip hop and R & B dynamic duo
#9 Brigitte Bardot and Serge Gainsbourg, French vocal duo. Pictured here as Bonnie and Clyde for their duet of the same name, a tune about the outlaw duo. So apropos!
#9 Brigitte Bardot and Serge Gainsbourg, caricature, artist unknown
#10 The brothers Chris and Rich Robinson of Southern rock band, The Black Crowes, a duo that jams hard

#11 Here is a Halloween homage to a duo that shreds, Axl Rose and Slash of Guns N’ Roses. The second pic is of myself as Slash with the perfect Axl look-a-like on Halloween this year.

#12 Rob Zombie and Sheri Moon Zombie, metal and horror power duo
Bonus #13 Myself and MC Homeless, my creative partner and P.I.C. for life. We took inspiration from the Zombie shoot above.

There you have it! Now if this doesn’t inspire you to go out and find your people, muses, fellow artists and put your heads together, then I don’t know what does. Combining your star clusters of talent into a stellar collision of your own can produce beautiful results. 🌟
